By serving as an election official or poll worker you are providing a very important service to your friends and neighbors.
Things everyone should know.
- a registered voter in Marion County
- over the age of 18 (except H.S. Seniors working towards their community service requirement)
- able to read and write the English language
- able to get along with fellow poll workers, deal with voters in a courteous, efficient fair manner and
follow specified procedures, as set by Arkansas Election Laws.
Arkansas state law states that poll workers get $11.30/hour, typically at 13 hours a shift. If you are working as part of the Learns Act Community Service program, you will not be financially compensated but will receive credit for hours served.
Eligible applicants will receive free training by state trained instructors. - usually 1 day.
Yes....poll workers must receive mandatory training a maximum of 1 year before an election. This is why we typically offer training between mid-December and the middle of February.
